Why Choose AUA

3 years and 200+ successful graduates later, we're proud that AUA University School of Medicine has stayed true to its founding vision.

AUA University School of Medicine was founded in 2022 with a bold mission: to provide a world-class alternative to U.S. and Canadian medical schools—offering exceptional medical education and expansive global career opportunities.

Here Are Some Reasons to Choose AUA

98% 1st-Time Pass Rate for USMLE Step 1 & 2 (Avg. 2024–2025)

At the American University of Anguilla (AUA), our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our students’ success. With a 98% first-time pass rate for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 (average from 2024 to 2025), AUA students consistently outperform the global average.

AUA’s pass rate exceeds the average for U.S. and Canadian MD programs (93%), stands above U.S. and Canadian DO programs (89%), and far surpasses other non-U.S./Canadian MD programs (74%).

97% Sustained Residency Placement Rate (Avg. 2024–2025)

Graduates of the American University of Anguilla (AUA) have consistently secured competitive residency placements, reflecting a success rate comparable to U.S. medical schools, surpassing most U.S. osteopathic programs, and far exceeding many other international medical schools.

In Canada, where medical school admissions and residency placements are highly competitive, AUA has built a strong reputation through successful matches in the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS).

Accreditation & Recognition of Excellence

The American University of Anguilla (AUA) is proud to be recognized by globally respected accrediting bodies. AUA’s medical program is accredited by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR), a WFME-recognized agency that ensures the highest international standards in medical education.

The United States Department of Education, through the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA), recognizes accreditation standards by agencies such as IAAR as comparable to those used by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME)—the official accrediting body for U.S. and Canadian medical schools.

This places AUA among a select group of international medical institutions that meet the rigorous global standards required to train future physicians for practice in the United States, Canada, and beyond.
