What Are the Pre-Med Course Requirements at AUA?

To be admitted to AUA’s School of Medicine, students must accomplish some courses before their enrollment, such as:

  • Biology – 2 semesters with lab
  • Physics – 2 semesters with lab
  • General Chemistry – 2 semesters with lab
  • Organic Chemistry – 2 semesters with lab
  • Biochemistry – 1 semester
  • English – 2 semesters
  • Math – 2 semesters

These prerequisites ensure that students entering AUA’s School of Medicine are well-prepared for the rigorous academic journey ahead, laying a strong foundation for their success in the medical field.

Advanced English Level

The language of the curriculum at AUA is English, therefore, it is expected that applicants have a decent level of English (equivalent to 90 and above in the TOEFL exam for students whose first language is not English).

Application Checklist

  2. Personal Statement: The personal statement should explain the student’s motivation for pursuing a medical career.
  3. Detailed Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  4. Copy of Diploma
  5. Unofficial transcript (student copy)
  6. Personal Photo (Passport size)
  7. Driver’s License (if in U.S)
  8. Official transcripts for undergraduate, graduate, medical, and/or professional schools attended. These should be mailed directly from the institutions to the university.
  9. Two Letters of Recommendation (One academic and one professional)
  10. Immunization Record (PPD or QuantiFERON, MMR, Varicella, Hep B – within 1 year)

 

Note:

. Applications from eligible candidates will be reviewed no more than one year before their anticipated start date.

. There is a non-refundable application fee of $100 to be paid.

. Students must verify that all transcripts are received before registration.

Application Process

To apply and get accepted into the MD program at the American University of Anguilla, students must follow the below 4 steps process:

Prepare yourself and the needed documents

After validating that you are an eligible candidate in our school, start by collecting supporting documents, such as previous transcripts, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and English language exam scores if needed.

Our online application is easy to fill and navigate. Create an application by clicking on the Student Portal at the top of this page. You can save your application and continue where you left off whenever you need.

Submit your Documents

Once you have all your documents ready, you will need to submit them in the application you created.

Keep an eye on your application

We accept new applicants on a rolling basis, therefore, early birds are more likely to secure their places in the program. Results will be released in the online application system and you will receive an email with all the status updates.

Start Dates

AUA offers three start dates each year: September, January, and May, thanks to our rolling admissions policy. You can apply for any of these terms and adjust your application as needed. Note that changing application types requires a new application.

Transfer Process

AUA’s School of Medicine accepts students who already started their academic journey in another university and wish to transfer to our campus. In this case, students must provide the following documents:

AUA ACCREDITATION & CERTIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAL COMMISSION FOR FOREIGN MEDICAL GRADUATES (ECFMG)

The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is a recognized authority by the US Department of Education, tasked with evaluating credentials and guiding non-US physicians and graduates of international medical schools on their journey to practice or apply for US residency programs. Serving as the gateway to the American medical landscape, ECFMG offers vital information and resources covering licensure, USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination), residency programs, and professional recognition.
Attaining ECFMG certification involves meeting specific criteria. Candidates must successfully pass the USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge exams, satisfy clinical and communication skills requirements, and hold a medical diploma from an institution listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOM). Conversely, US medical school graduates must also navigate USMLE Steps 1 and 2 but have the option to participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) while still in their final year, streamlining the process before officially obtaining their medical diplomas.
